Types of Academic Essays
An essay is, by definition, a literary composition that presents the author’s argument however, in terms of essay, the definition has become a bit unclear, and it is now overlapping with that of a newspaper article, a novel, a book, or even a short story. Essays are traditionally classified as academic or formal depending on the purpose for which they are written. In essays written for a classroom at a university for instance, the overall tone is one of sophistication and intelligence and the tone of a pulp magazine article tends to be one of fun and fun. The challenge of writing essays is in determining the theme clearly and creating a coherent theme in the essay to make it both readable and acceptable to a variety of readers.

The introduction is where a writer begins their essay. The introduction is where readers first get to know the ideas in the body of the essay. There are a variety of ways to begin an essay. The most well-known is to include a brief overview of the topic of the essay at the start of the introduction. Some more modern ways to introduce the topic include some kind of discussion between the author and the reader at the start of the essay.
One of the most well-known ways to begin an essay is through an analysis of the thesis statement or central argument. The thesis statement is typically constructed within the context of the essay. If the essay is focused on personal experiences, as an example the introduction could explain how the essay came to be written, what the point of view of the writer is, what assumptions he has and how these assumptions are related to personal experiences. In a research essay, for example the thesis could describe the research conducted by the writer, and might discuss the factors that influenced the study’s data and results of that study.
A discussion of the thesis statement is another method to start an essay. This can be done within the body of the essay, like an introduction, or by keeping the reader’s mind for example, in a narrative essay. A narrative essay is, at its core the story or set of stories. The protagonist is the central subject of the story and the events that unfold within the plot develop the character’s perspective throughout the essay. Narrative essays give the writer the opportunity to fully develop the essay’s main theme.
The third kind, the expository essay, focuses on the descriptive essay’s content. The purpose of an expository essay is to provide fresh and pertinent information on the subject of the essay. If the essay is about Shakespeare or the play, the argument could highlight that Shakespeare wrote to Elizabeth, his wife, while she was living in exile in West Indies. The writer paints a vivid essays to apply for a college portrait of the character and reveals aspects of his personality that are not disclosed in his writing.
Essays are written to convince readers to convince them with your arguments and entertain them by your writing.
